81 New COVID-19 Cases Reported for Delaware County Along With 5 More COVID-19 Related Deaths

There were 81 additional cases of COVID-19 reported in Delaware County for Wednesday, Aug. 5, by the Chester County Health Department, bringing the total number of cases to 9,078.

Five additional COVID-19 deaths were reported, with the total in the county now at 740.

Of those, 587 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have now been reported in 39 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 480 cases, affecting 4.18 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,472, affecting 1.77 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The following are the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, listed by municipality in descending order of caseload, indicating which communities saw an increase in cases since yesterday, Aug. 4, the last date these statistics were reported.

There are 269 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 63,656 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 75.52 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups as of Aug. 5 are:

  • Under 10: 6 cases
  • 10 to 19: 429 cases (up 6)
  • 20 to 29: 1,400 cases
  • 30 to 39: 1,300 cases
  • 40 to 49: 1,200 cases
  • 50 to 59: 1,400 cases
  • 60 to 69: 1,200 cases
  • 70 to 79: 754 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,200 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Aug. 5, that there were 707 new cases of COVID-19 across the state, bringing the statewide total to 115,716.

There were 12 additional COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the state total to 7,244.
