A top 25 list of top wine producers in Pennsylvania had only one winery from Delaware County on it, writes Paul Vigna for pennlive.com.

Chadds Ford Winery actually cracked the top 10 list for wine production, coming in seventh with 48,218 gallons of wine.

The list, which is updated only as far as 2018, comes from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.  It’s a compilation of wine and cider production numbers for Pennsylvania’s 350 wineries and cideries.

The establishments have to submit previous year production numbers when they annually reapply for their license.

The statistics not only include how many gallons of wine were produced, but also how much product was sold in and out of the state, and the amount of grapes/juice they had to buy to supplement what was grown in the vineyards.

To get on the list, a winery had to exceed 16,000 gallons of wine. A case of wine adds up to a little more than 2.3 gallons.

The number one winery on the list comes out of Erie County.  Arrowhead Wine Cellars produced 137,000 gallons of wine in 2018.
