Upper Darby’s New Mayor Invites Residents to Create a Town Motto

By

Can you sum up in a few positive words what Upper Darby means to you?

Upper Darby Mayor Barbarann Keffer is offering a chance to have a resident’s motto replace the mayor’s name on official signs throughout the township, writes Kevin Tustin for the Delco News Network.

“I want everybody to be a part of the new Upper Darby,” said Keffer Jan. 6.  “This is our township together and these are our parks and libraries and what better way to say that than removing the focus from any one name and giving it back to the people to create their own motto for Upper Darby.”

Upper Darby has a lot going for it. An historical and cultural hub dating back to colonial times, it also boasts a varied population of 80,000 residents.

Send submissions, with a name, address and up to 150 words explaining why your slogan’s a good fit, to udtransition@gmail.com no later than the close of business Jan. 24.

Residents are also invited to submit applications to udtransition@gmail.com to serve on one of her four new advisory committees.

Information on the motto contest and the advisory committees can be found on the Upper Darby Township Facebook page.
