8,535 Total COVID-19 Cases Now Reported in Delaware County, No New Deaths Reported

New COVID-19 case counts rose by 250 in Delaware County for Tuesday, July 28, compared to numbers reported on July 27.

Total cases in the county now stands at 8,535, according to the Chester County Health Department.

No additional COVID-19 deaths were reported, with the total in the county remaining at 720.

Of those, 575 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 468 cases, affecting 4.08 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,381, affecting 1.66 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 262 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

The county has had 56,417 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 77.38 percent recovery rate.

  • 10 to 19: 349 cases
  • 20 to 29: 1,300 cases
  • 30 to 39: 1,200 cases
  • 40 to 49: 1,100 cases
  • 50 to 59: 1,400 cases
  • 60 to 69: 1,200 cases
  • 70 to 79: 733 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,200 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, July 28, that there are 109,384 statewide cases of COVID-19.

There were 32 additional COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the state total to 7,146.
