Free Baby Item Pick Up, Food Drives This Week in Delaware County

Free baby items are available for Delaware County families in need during a pick up event Friday, June 19, in Sharon Hill.

The first come, first served event offers newborn to size 6 diapers, formula, baby food, and other baby items.

Pick up is noon to 2 p.m. at 250 Sharon Ave. in Sharon Hill.

The event is sponsored by Delaware County Council, the Department of Human Services, Individuals Aiding in Emergencies Foundation and Multicultural Community Family Services.

Residents attending this event must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Food Drives 

Two contact-less food drives are scheduled Saturday, June 20.

Food will be collected for local food pantries from 9 a.m. to noon at 4 Highland Ave. in Lansdowne.

A second drive takes place 1 to 4 p.m. at the United Steelworkers Hall, at 1522 Chichester Ave. in Linwood.

Items needed include dry good goods, peanut butter, canned meats and tuna, stews, soups, cereal and items that cannot be purchased with SNAP benefits–paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap. laundry detergent, toothpaste, deodorant, bar soap for bathing, baby diapers, baby wipes, formula, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies.

Residents are able to drive through the site.  Volunteers will collect the donated items from their vehicles.

Past food drives have been very successful, helping a total of seven pantries restock their shelves.

The event is sponsored by the Delaware County Department of Human Services, in conjunction with Delaware County Council, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, as well as states senators and representatives from the area.
