Delaware County COVID-19 Cases Remain Low as It Prepares for Green Phase, With 13 New Cases Friday

Delaware County has successfully contained the COVID-19 spread, allowing it to be included in a green phase reopening of the county on June 26. (See related story).

As of Friday, June 19, there were 13 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported and one death.

That brings the total number of cases in the county to 7,050 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths at 681. Of those, 543 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 419  cases, affecting 3.65 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby continues to have the most cases, at 1,148, affecting 1.38 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 252 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

The county has had 30,163 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 79 percent recovery rate.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, June 19, that there are 526 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 80,762.

There are 6,399 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 38 new deaths.
