Delaware County COVID-19 Confirmed Cases Surpass 4,000; Deaths Now at 255

Delaware County has surpassed 4,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with numbers at 4,173 as of Sunday, May 3.

At the same time, 15 more residents have lost their lives to COVID-19 since Friday, May 1, bringing the county death toll to 255, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Of that number, 190 occurred in a nursing home or personal care facility in the county.

COVID-19 deaths have now been reported in 30 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities listed by the Chester County Health Department by community in descending order of deaths reported:

The county’s total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases increased by 274 since Friday, May 1, and now stands at 4,173.

The virus is reported in 48 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rose Valley.

There are 195 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 256 cases, affecting 2.23 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most reported cases, at 699, affecting .84 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The county has had 9,751 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, Sunday May 3, that there are 962 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 49,267.

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19.

Today, the department reported 26 new deaths, bringing the statewide total to 2,444 in Pennsylvania.

Of those,1635 were in nursing homes and personal care facilities.

The southeast region of the state, which includes Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties, has the highest number of COVID-19 positive confirmed cases in the state, at 31,463.  The northeast has the second highest number of cases, at 10,270.
