Daily New Cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County Continue to Average Lower

There were 72 new cases of COVID-19 reported Sunday, May 31, in Delaware County.  The number of new cases is based on the last reported figures released Friday, May 29.

There was one additional COVID-19-related death since Friday, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

County totals now number 545 COVID-19 deaths and 6,510 cases reported.

There are 271 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 3917 cases, affecting 3.41 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby continues to have the most cases, at 1,022, affecting 1.23 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, May 31, that there are 511 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 71,926.

There are 5,555 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 18 new deaths.

The southeast region of the state, which includes Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties, has the highest number of positive confirmed cases in the state, at 46,502.  The next highest number of cases in the state is in the northeast, reporting 13,114 cases.
