Delaware County restauranteurs have welcomed news that the updated reopening guidelines include marked outdoor dining as allowed during the yellow phase with delight and caution, writes Jenn Ladd for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Many restrictions will still apply, including keeping at least six feet between tables and using physical guides such as tape to indicate proper spacing. Additionally, customers need to sit at tables or wear masks when not.

However, these strict guidelines have done little to curb the enthusiasm of an industry decimated by the coronavirus pandemic. Many owners are already ordering stocks of sanitizers and measuring the front of their establishments to calculate how many tables will fit.

“I know there’s a lot of business owners that are very reticent to pull people back before they know they’re ready to go,” said Interstate Drafthouse co-owner Mike McCloskey.

Also, some are unsure how to bring back employees who are receiving more money through unemployment then they would if they returned to work.
