Like the rest of the nation last Thursday, Delaware County observed a National Day of Prayer, but this year’s pandemic meant virtual observances and a parade of vehicles at Rose Tree Park, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

The mission of the participants was the same—to spread the good news of God’s presence, particularly in these trying times.

This was the first time in its 70-year history that activities were held virtually or at a distance from each other.

The Rose Tree Park caravan, led by co-directors Patti Bruno and Gabrielle Bruno and founder Evelyn Wright circled the Delaware County Courthouse, with stops at  Broomall Fire Station, Broomall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church.  It ended at Delaware County Christian School in Devon.

Other events were held on websites or on Facebook.

David Oliver of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Morton prayed for “those who are sick or who lost a loved one and those hurting financially and spiritually.”

“Continue to bless us and protect us,” Oliver prayed. “We thank you for holding each one in the palm of your hands.”
