Coronavirus Update: Delaware County COVID-19 Death Toll Now 536, With 6,341 Confirmed Cases

Twelve more Delaware County residents have died from complications of COVID-19 since Tuesday, May 26, with total deaths now reported at 536 as of Wednesday, May 27, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Of that total number, 393 were nursing home or personal care facility fatalities.

There were 79 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the county total to 6,341.

The virus is now reported in all 49 municipalities.

There are 258 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 382 cases, affecting 3.33 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most reported cases, at 990, affecting 1.19 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, May 27, that there are 780 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 69,417.

There are 5,265 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 113 new deaths.

The southeast region of the state, which includes Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties, has the highest number of positive confirmed cases in the state, at 44,843.  The next highest number of cases in the state is in the northeast, reporting 12,811 cases.
