Delaware County’s COVID-19 Positive Cases Approaching 20,000

The weekend saw an increase of 504 in the total number of positive reported COVID-19 cases in Delaware County, according to the Chester County Health Department.

On Friday, the total number of positive cases reported was 19,395. That number changed to 19,899 as of Monday, Nov. 30.

The number of COVID-19 deaths remained unchanged at 850.

Of those, 636 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 756, or 6.59 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 3,097 cases reported, or 3.73 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 438 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 157,494 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 68.02 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, Nov. 30 are:

  • Under 10: 578 cases
  • 10 to 19: 1,888 cases
  • 20 to 29: 3,628 cases
  • 30 to 39: 2,905 cases
  • 40 to 49: 2,726 cases
  • 50 to 59: 3,095 cases
  • 60 to 69: 2,302 cases
  • 70 to 79: 1,265 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,510

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Nov. 30, that there were 4,268 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, with the total number of cases now at 361,464.

There were 32 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, with total deaths for Monday, Nov. 30 reported at 10,383.
