Upper Darby Leads in Number of COVID-19 Cases for Delaware County

Upper Darby Township has 11 reported positive cases of the coronavirus as of Saturday, leading Delaware County in the number of cases.

Upper Darby is followed by Concord Township, with four; Aston and Middletown Townships, Morton, Radnor and Springfield with three; Chester, Haverford, Ridley and Upper Providence with three cases and Bethel, Collingdale, Marple, Nether Providence, Newtown, Swarthmore Swarthmore, and Yeadon with one case reported.

There were nine new positive cases reported Saturday, March 21, in Delaware County–45 positive cases total reported as of 2 p.m., Sunday, March 22, according to data from the Chester County Board of Health. The county has the third highest number of reported cases in Pennsylvania.

The county also had 324 people test negative for the virus.

Chester County is now providing Delaware County’s coronavirus data since the county does not have its own health department.

A second person in Pennsylvania has died from COVID-19, Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine announced Saturday afternoon, according to a report from Lancasteronline.com.

The person who died was an adult in Allegheny County who had been hospitalized.

Pennsylvania is reporting another 108 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday, March 22, bringing the state-wide total to 479.

Philadelphia County has the most cases, at 91, followed by Montgomery County, at 87, then Delaware County at 43.

The state began reporting positive coronavirus cases March 6, with two cases statewide.
