Residents of Chester will be able get health services and programs at the new Keystone First Wellness and Opportunity Center that opened this week at 1929 W. 9th Street, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 6,500-square-foot Center has resources to improve overall health and well-being, according to the Keystone First website.

It will offer health screenings, fitness and nutrition classes, health information and education programs. Lead poison screenings take place Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m.

Students can also take classes to earn their general equivalency diplomas.

“We are excited to further increase our presence in the city of Chester, and be a welcoming point of access to its residents, and the community at large,” said Keystone First Market President Joanne McFall.

The center will be open to Keystone First members and non-members Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Keystone First is the largest Medicaid managed care plan in southeastern Pennsylvania.

The center’s goal is to provide “culturally appropriate” outreach and care and to offer resources targeting Chester’s needs, McFall said.

In summer or early fall, a second wellness and opportunity center will open in Chester’s business district.
