As Restaurant Workers Struggle, $5,000 Tip Brings Widener Student Positive Energy and Hope

By

Anthony’s At Paxon waitress Gianna DiAngelo got a surprise tip of $5,000 recently on a $205.94 customer bill, reports 6abc.com.

The stunned waitress is a freshman nursing student at Widener University in Chester.  The money will be put away and saved for college.

“I’m just happy with anything. So when they were saying $5,000, I just couldn’t even believe it. I still can’t believe it,” she said.

She hopes to pay the generous gift forward by being the best nurse she can.

A spokesman for the Broomall restaurant offered this statement to foxbusiness.com.

“I just would like everyone nationwide to know that this tip was more than just money. It brought hope and positivity to our community in these tough times with this second shutdown,” said Jon Walsh, general managing partner. “I want everyone nationwide to stay positive, have hope and look for silver linings every day.”

A Dec. 12 Facebook post from Anthony’s also offered its thanks to the generous patrons and to the community. The post has received 1,000 likes and 198 comments so far.

“Thank you for helping our staff get through the holidays,” the post reads.
