Fifth Delaware County Resident Dies From Coronavirus, Cases Now at 276

A fifth person has died from COVID-19 in Delaware County. On Friday, March 28, the Chester County Health Department reported that a 65-year-old Springfield man passed away from COVID-19.

That brings the county’s fatality rate to five.

Delaware County has 44 new positive cases of COVID-19 as of noon, Sunday, March 29, bringing that total in the county up to 276, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

The virus is now being reported in 42 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Upper Darby Township still leads in total cases with 34.

Haverford is next with 25 cases.

Radnor Township has 23.  Marple Township has 16.

Nether Providence and Newtown Townships have 14 cases each.

Middletown and Springfield Townships have 12 cases each.

Thornbury Township has nine cases.

Ridley Township has nine cases.

Aston Township has eight cases.

Swarthmore and Upper Chichester have six positive cases of COVID-19.

Concord Township has five cases.

Ridley Park, Darby Borough and Upper Providence have four cases each.

Three cases each were reported in Bethel, the city of Chester, Clifton Heights, Media, Morton, Sharon Hill and Yeadon.

Two cases each were reported in Aldan, Darby Township, East Lansdowne, Lansdowne and Rose Valley.

One case each was reported in Brookhaven, Chadds Ford, Chester Township, Collindale, Colwyn, Eddystone, Edgmont, Folcroft, Millbourne, Norwood, Prospect Park, Tinicum, and Trainer.

No cases have been reported in Chester Heights, Glenolden, Lower Chichester, Marcus Hook, Parkside, Rutledge or Upland Borough.

There are 25 additional cases reported that are still under investigation and are not yet tied to a municipality.

The county had 1,931people test negative for the virus.

The majority of cases reported fall between the ages of 20 and 69.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting as of midnight, Sunday, March 29, four new deaths in the state from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 39.

There were 643 more positive cases in the state, bringing the total number of cases to 3,394 in 58 counties.

Five deaths have been reported in Delaware County, Montgomery County and Philadelphia counties. Four deaths have been reported in Northampton County.

Three deaths have been reported in Lehigh and Monroe counties.

Two deaths have been reported in Allegheny, Lackawana , Butler, Lancaster and Luzerne counties. One death has been reported in Bucks, Cumberland, Pike, and Lawrence counties.

Philadelphia County continues to lead with 865 cases. Montgomery County has 488. Delaware County is third with 276 cases reported.

There are 30,061 patients who have tested negative for coronavirus in the state.
