The Delaware County Controller’s Office earned a “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” for its 2018 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

The certificate was presented to County Controller Joanne Phillips and her staff by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

It is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and finance reporting.

In bestowing the certificate, the GFOA hoped that Delaware County’s example will encourage others in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting.

“Our office was honored to receive this prestigious award once again in recognition of our financial reporting,” said Phillips. “The staff in the Controller’s office and the budget department should be commended for their dedication and diligence. They work hard to provide our residents with responsible and transparent financial reporting.”

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is judged by an impartial pane. Recipients must demonstrate a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.

Delaware County earned the GFOA accolade in 1983, 1985 and from 1994-2018, marking 27 total awards.
