Airbnb hosts in Delaware County had a really good last year with $1.2 million generated from host income from 9,300 guest arrivals, writes Kennedy Rose for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The entire Greater Philadelphia also saw significant improvements over 2018. Last year, the five-county region made $75.6 million from 583,100 guests, a 20 percent increase from 2018.

Philadelphia was the state’s highest-earning county for Airbnb hosts by far in 2019, with $66.8 million generated from 524,500 guests.

Meanwhile, neighboring Montgomery County raked in $3.2 million from 19,700 guests and Chester County brought in $2.1 million from 14,700 guests.

“2019 was another great year for Airbnb in Pennsylvania, with more local residents embracing the economic opportunities offered by home-sharing,” said Josh Meltzer, head of Airbnb’s Northeast Public Policy, “and small businesses and entire communities benefiting as a result.”

The company also tracked the top five weekends for area hosts in 2019. The top weekend last year followed the Christmas holiday when 37,000 guests booked area rooms and homes with Airbnb.

Next was Labor Day weekend, followed by Columbus Day and Memorial Day weekends.
