Newtown Square Home Makeover Melds Hollywood Light with Traditional Main Line

By

A family home in Newtown Square got a big time makeover from the two medical professionals who live there with their two young children, writes Eileen Smith Dallabrida for Main Line Today.

The house was built in the early 2000s, but the owners’ wanted a more contemporary aesthetic.

“The colors were dark and rich, but we wanted to let the light in and showcase all the natural brightness of the home. We just needed to put our personal stamp on it,” the owner said.

They studied pictures of celebrity homes and were drawn to Gwen Stefani’s sleek, colorful compound in Beverly Hills.  Jennifer Lopez’ mansion also had appeal.

Kirsten McCoy of Meadowbank Designs in Wayne, came up with an expansive, light-filled home.

They wanted to be surrounded by personal pieces so Kristen incorporated family photos, a grandfather’s journal and books in a way that still looks elegant and clean.

Surfaces throughout the house are beautiful but touchable, incorporating fabrics and carpets that are both opulent and stain-resistant.

The owners are working on a collection of contemporary art, and they’ve displayed their favorite abstract pieces in the living room and dining room.
