The Wayne Business Association is celebrating 80 years in 2019.  Established by local business owners, its mission has remained the same—Connecting Commerce and Community, reports Main Line Today.

The Association celebrated April 25 at the Wayne Art Center. Many present were members from up to 40 years ago, including past presidents and board officers.

All had stories to tell. There were the chickens from China Buddha restaurant that ran amuck and shut down traffic along Rt. 30; and the first Fall Festival 27 years ago.

The Radnor Historical Society shared historical pictures and memorabilia from history around Wayne.

Each year, the WBA also presents awards for exceptional volunteerism in the community and the WBA.

The 18th Annual Benjamin V.M. Wilson Community Service Award was presented to Douglas R. Blazey, president and member of the Rotary Club of Wayne.  He was honored as a tireless volunteer for the Rotary, the Wayne Senior Center, Radnor Educational Foundation St. Katharine of Siena Parish.

The 19th Annual Lawrence T. Adelberger, Sr. Membership Service Award was presented to Gloria Clawson, owner of Kids ‘n Kribs in Wayne.
