Media native Tom Coyne, an author and professor at Saint Joseph’s University, has released his latest book on golf, entitled A Course Called Scotland, writes Michael Bradley for Main Line Today.

A Devon resident, Coyne graduated from Notre Dame, and is now the director of creative writing at SJU.

This is his third book about golf, as his decision to write about the sport was driven from the love he developed for the game when he was a child.

As part of his research for his new book, he had the arduous task of playing 111 rounds in 57 days. Interestingly, he confesses that he’s not a big fan of golf writers.

“I’m not crazy about people who write about golf and life affirmations, but I do think there were things I learned that were bigger than golf,” he said. “I learned from traveling what I’m capable of doing. When you’re on the road like that, there are a lot of emotional ups and downs.”
