Seven students from South Korea visited Penn State Brandywine for three weeks as part of the school’s unique educational partnerships with two universities from the Asian nation, writes Haleigh Swansen for Penn State News.

The visit comes a year after the Brandywine students visited Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul for five weeks as part of the same partnership.

The Brandywine campus also welcomed Hojin Oh, a professor of English literature at Hanbat University, and John Clare a visiting scholar.

This year, seven of Oh’s English majors from Hanbat University came to Brandywine to expand their horizons.

“I wanted to come to the USA and get some new experience in the things I have studied.” said Hyeon-Su Park.

One of the classes taken by the seven students was a week-long introduction to American culture. This taught them the politics, art, literature, and pop culture of their host country.

Students also took some time to visit local attractions in Pennsylvania and neighboring states.

“We’ve been studying Edgar Allan Poe and Walt Whitman, and we got to go to their houses,” said Minjeong Kim.
