Improvmania, a day of improvisational performances to benefit a local charity for families in need, is coming to Wallingford, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Delaware County News Network.

One of the movers and shakers behind the event is Garnet Valley resident Jason Langin, one of five fathers who founded the Five Fathers Charity five years ago. Since then, the charity has raised more than $50,000 for families in need of financial assistance due to childhood disease or domestic abuse.

Langin got bored with holding beef-and-beer-style fundraisers for the charity, so he decided to create one for 2018 that would offer entertainment in exchange for donations. Improv is live theatre, usually comedy-based, and features characters and dialogue, or a story that is made up on the spur of the moment.

Langin belongs to two improv troupes, DJ Mixup and Stealth Tightrope. He’s also a language arts teacher at Haverford Middle School, where he directs and coaches an after-school improv club, the Haverford Actor’s Workshop.

Improvmania will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Performing Arts Complex of Delaware County at Stage One, located at 101 Plush Mill Road in Wallingford. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Five Fathers Charity.
