A powerful response from West Chester native Sharon Reed, who is currently a news anchor in Atlanta, to a racist e-mail from a viewer quickly went viral, drawing praise from many on social media, writes Nick Vadala for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

While covering the city’s mayoral race, the former NBC10 anchor in Philadelphia addressed the e-mail during a broadcast last week on CBS46. Reed displayed the offensive message when discussion turned to Atlanta’s racial demographics.

“I think it’s fair for people to see what she wrote,” Reed said before putting the e-mail on the screen.

The e-mail, written by a woman named Kathy Rae, called Reed the N-word.

“I could clap back and say a few things to you,” said Reed. “But instead, I will let your words, Kathy Rae, speak for themselves.”
