For the second consecutive year, Todd Rundgren, a 1966 graduate of Upper Darby High School, has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, writes Kevin Tustin for the Daily Times.

Rundgren, known for hits such as “Hello, It’s Me,” and “We Gotta Get You a Woman,” joins late musical icons Whitney Houston and the Notorious B.I.G. as the 16 acts nominated for inclusion in the Rock Hall this year.

Rundgren formed power pop group Nazz in 1967. He joined Albert Grossman’s Bearsville Records as a producer and engineer and earned his first top 20 hit in America with “We Gotta Get You a Woman” as part of his debut solo effort “Runt” from 1970.

His 1972 double album “Something/Anything?” placed him in the spotlight with iconic hits like “I Saw the Light” and “Hello It’s Me,” the latter reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

He was nominated for a Grammy In 1983 for his music video “Videosyncracy.”

“We can hear Todd Rundgren’s influence in everyone from Prince and Hall & Oates to Bjork and Daft Punk,” reads the Hall of Fame’s bio.
