The Philadelphia Union celebrated being the first team in professional sports with its own tattoo officer at a recent special event, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The team “inked” the deal with Jay Cunliffe of Aston’s Bonedaddys Tattoo for a part-time position after considering 150 candidates during an extensive search for the ideal artist for the Union.

“After consultation with our players and site visits with each of the final five, Bonedaddys Tattoo stood out,” said Doug Vosik, Vice President of Marketing for the Union. “We’re proud to hire Cunliffe as our CTO and look forward to a fruitful partnership.”

The celebration was held in Cunliffe’s shop to mark the inauguration of the partnership. The party included a special tattoo for Vosik, and some stylish designs were applied to Union defender Richie Marquez and Sons of Ben founding member Corey Furlan.
