Teresa Boyer, the leader of Rutgers University’s Center for Women and Work, will head Villanova’s new women’s leadership institute, writes Michelle Caffrey for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Boyer, who is a Villanova graduate, will become the founding director of the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women’s Leadership on July 31. The newly established institute is the result of a $5 million gift from McNulty, a 1975 graduate of Villanova’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the founder of JBK Partners.

Boyer’s role will include building the institute into an organization that is nationally recognized for cultivating the advancement of women through education, advocacy, community building, and collaboration.

She is an expert on issues such as career development for women, workplace equity, and women’s education. During her time at Rutgers, she partnered with nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, and donors. This helped to establish the center as one of the premier sources of expertise in the field.

“Dr. Boyer brings a wealth of experience as a scholar, teacher, administrator, and advocate for women, their families, and their communities,” said provost Patrick Maggitti.
