Malvern Federal Savings Bank Appoints New Chief Operations Officer

malvernMalvern Federal Savings Bank has appointed Alexander Opiela III to the position of Chief Operations Officer. He replaces Karen Walter.

“Alex is highly regarded as a motivated professional, and we believe he is an outstanding addition to the team, bringing over 12 years of diverse banking experience,” said Anthony C. Weagley, President and CEO of Malvern Bancorp.

Prior to joining Malvern, Opiela served as the Senior Vice President, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, for Royal Bank America. He has served on several committees within his career at numerous organizations, including Asset Liability Management, Compliance, ERM, and CRA.

Opiela is a Board Member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Risk Management Association (RMA), and a member of both the Scranton Club and Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).

He possess a bachelor’s degree from Gannon University and an MBA from Rider University.

Malvern Federal Savings Bank is headquartered in Paoli, and has locations in Chester and Delaware counties and one in Morristown, N.J.
