Upper Darby Family Remembers Mom in Traditional Halloween Dance
An annual dance tradition at Halloween for an Upper Darby family took on special meaning, reports 6abc.com.
Five Heistand family siblings lost their mom earlier this year.
She was the one who would choreograph the moves for each Halloween dance.
The kids grew up with this annual tradition, performing the dances in their back alley.
This year, in tribute to their mom, they brought back a dance performance first done for their neighbors 35 years ago, a local version of “Thriller.”
The idea came from Heistand sibling Tracy Doherty, after the Doherty family Halloween party was cancelled.
“Since COVID cancelled the annual Halloween party that the Doherty’s normally host every year, we decided to give our kids a performance they will never forget,” Tracy Doherty said.
She not only kept the dance tradition going, she was able to include her 9-year-old daughter Haley.
They performed for their dad and his 14 grandkids this past Saturday.
The siblings say they hope their performance was a proud moment for their mom.
