Sarah Kurpel reached a new pinnacle of achievement last week when she was named the new director of athletics at Penn State Brandywine.

Kurpel brings a decade of experience as an assistant athletic director at Neumann University, her alma mater, to her new responsibilities of overseeing 13 varsity sports, as well as on-campus clubs and intramurals, at Penn State Brandywine.

“Sarah comes to us with a wealth of experience not only as an athletic administrator, recruiter, and teacher, but also as a coach herself,” said Chancellor Kristin Woolever. “She shares Brandywine’s focus on scholar-athletes, and will continue the tradition of excellence in our athletic program.”

Kurpel, as Aston resident, was a two-sport letterwinner at Archbishop Prendergast High School, a four-year starter in both field hockey and lacrosse at Neumann, and a former teacher in the Upper Darby School District.

“I am so grateful to have been selected as the director of athletics at Penn State Brandywine,” she said. “I’m excited to immerse myself in the campus and the diverse culture that Brandywine celebrates. I’m eager to focus on the enhancement of the student-athlete experience, while we transition to a residential community in the coming academic year.”
