Axalta Coating Systems, which has its North American headquarters in Glen Mills, is partnering up with the heavy-duty truck body shop Texas Chrome for the next season of Texas Trocas, a television series on the Discovery Channel.

One of the show’s projects was to rebuild a 2000 Kenworth W900 heavy-duty truck, which was then finished with Axalta’s Imron 6600 CT polyurethane basecoat. Owned by Texan Omar Ruiz, the truck won a coveted award during its first public appearance at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas this summer.

The custom rebuild used various in-house, fabricated metal parts, as well as new bumpers, recessed lights, and filigree design wheels. However, the final touch was its custom paint job, which uses four of Axalta’s custom-mixed blue colors.

“Every time we have entered GATS, we have won the top national builder’s category for Best Paint,” said Roland Mendez, owner of Texas Chrome. “With our team of 28, we are a ‘one-stop shop’ offering chrome accessories, engine repairs, polishing, welding, fabrication, body, and of course our trucks are finished with Axalta’s brilliant paint.”
