Axalta Coating Systems of Glen Mills celebrated its Brilliant Blue, the 2016 North American Automotive Color of the Year, by turning the Hagley Car Show in Wilmington blue.

The leading global supplier of liquid and powder coating adorned its booth at the show with a pedal car and mini hoods painted in Brilliant Blue, and provided giveaways featuring the chromatic color.

More than 500 automobiles were showcased at the car show last month. While many shined in their blueness, the true standout vehicle and the winner of the Axalta “Best in Blue” award was Newtown Square resident Dennis Whitaker’s 1965 Superformance Shelby Cobra replica.

It was also awarded the coveted pole position in the car show parade.

“It was a pleasant surprise to win,” said Whitaker. “I’m proud of my Superformance Shelby Cobra replica, and it’s an honor to be recognized by a leading paint supplier.”
