During its Aug. 17 meeting, Delaware County Council welcomed members from the Delaware County Historical Society and members from various historical and preservation societies from around the county to recognize September as History Month in Delaware County.

The month is dedicated to shining a spotlight on the county’s rich history.

Council also announced that the aforementioned groups have partnered to host the Life and Times History Tour on Sept. 24 and 25, a free, historian-guided tour of 10 historic sites in Delco.

Some of the sites on the first day of the tour include the Cumberland Cemetery and Middletown Hicksite Burying Grounds in Media, the Pierce-Willits House in Concordville, the Chichester Friends Meetinghouse, and the Resurrection Episcopal Church and Calvary Cemetery in Aston.

The second day of the tour will be devoted to the newly re-opened Brandywine Battlefield, the 46 acres of fertile farmland that witnessed the largest land battle of the American Revolution.
