Thirteen-year-old Judy Dettore from Chadds Ford will be attending the U.S. Pony Finals in Kentucky this month thanks to a grant from the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Foundation, according to a staff report from NJ.com.

Dettore, one of three recipients of the Gochman Family U.S. Pony Finals Grant this year, was selected by the foundation from a total of 33 nominees due to her exemplary sportsmanship, horsemanship, and work ethic.

“We had many impressive applicants this year, and we’re very excited that with the support of the Gochman Family, we were able to award this grant to three young equestrians,” said Jennifer Burger, president of the USHJA Foundation.

Dettore mostly competes on the local circuit, taking part in just a handful of competitions each year, usually those with green ponies. This is her first opportunity to go to Pony Finals.

“Pony Finals is always something I dreamed about,” said Dettore. “Being the recipient of this year’s USHJA Foundation Gochman Family Pony Finals Grant is so special, and I am so excited for it!”
