Media-based Sterling Pig Brewery recently joined forces with St. Joseph’s University to launch the co-branded Hawk Hill Hazy Session IPA, writes Owen Hewitt for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The collaboration has been in the works for almost a year, according to Kevin Levy, the general manager of corporate sponsorships at St. Joe’s.
“Sports and beer, they go hand-in-hand,” said Levy. “Our executive team here at St. Joe’s Athletics was sitting around saying, ‘What about a co-branded beer?’ Everybody was on board with the idea, so we called up a few local breweries and found a great partner in Sterling Pig.”
The university worked closely with the brewery on every aspect of the ale, from its style to the design of its label.
Sterling Pig describes the light-bodied India pale ale as “juice-forward and feather-light” on its website. The 5 percent alcohol-by-volume brew is already available on draft at Sterling Pig’s Media restaurant and in 12-ounce cans online and in-store. The can’s design features an illustration of a hawk holding a hop flower.
St. Joe’s will stock the co-branded beer at Hagan Arena during Hawks games when the 2026–27 college basketball season starts.
