Upper Darby’s Tina Fey Scores Season Three Renewal for Netflix’s ‘The Four Seasons’

The cast of The Four Seasons takes a hike during a scene from the show's second season, now renewed by Netflix for a third.

Tina Fey’s Netflix comedy-drama The Four Seasons has been renewed for a third season, giving viewers another round of getaways with its funny, complicated friend group, writes Rosa Cartagena for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Fey created the series with fellow 30 Rock writers Tracey Wigfield and Lang Fisher.

Inspired by Alan Alda’s 1981 film, the show follows a close-knit group of friends as they travel together on four seasonal trips over the course of a year. Its second season debuted in May.

Fey stars alongside Colman Domingo, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani, and Erika Henningsen.

The series has earned attention for its warm and sharply funny look at middle-aged relationships, long-term friendships, and the messy life changes that come with both.

The local connection runs deep.

Fey grew up in Upper Darby, while Domingo is from West Philadelphia, the two separated by Cobbs Creek Park.

Both directed episodes this season, and they say their shared regional roots helped deepen their bond.

“I feel like you can see [our friendship] on screen, because it’s actually what has happened personally for us as well, as we got to know each other and each other’s families, each other’s hearts,” said Domingo.

Season two carried the group from Italy to Puerto Rico, upstate New York, and the Jersey Shore, with filming in Ocean Grove and Point Pleasant Beach.

The finale left Danny and Claude planning a move to Philadelphia to care for Danny’s mother, a thread that has fans wondering whether season three will bring the cast closer to home.

The full story in The Philadelphia Inquirer digs into the renewal, the cast’s real-life bonds, and the hints that season three could finally bring the gang to Philadelphia.
