After transitioning to broadcasting with ESPN three years ago, former Philadelphia Eagles lineman Jason Kelce was largely focused on the NFL before he branched out into other sports, including making his golf broadcasting debut at a TGL event last month, writes Matt Audilet for Men’s Journal.
The Haverford resident is now set to continue his coverage at the 2026 Masters Tournament, conducting interviews with players and their families, but not everyone is thrilled about his new role.
Last week, Jason Kelce appeared at Augusta National Golf Club, covering the annual Par 3 Contest as an on-course reporter. The Masters, long known for its deep-rooted traditions and carefully maintained rules developed over nearly a century, has prompted criticism from some golf purists who are not pleased with the seven-time NFL Pro Bowler’s participation in this year’s historic event.
“This is an abomination for @TheMasters. Yes, the Par 3 contest is for players’ FAMILIES & Patrons,” wrote one fan.
“ESPN should do an alternative stream where you don’t have to see Jason Kelce the entire time,” wrote another. “It would do numbers.”
