The Cobbs Creek Golf Course in West Philadelphia and Upper Darby has opened the Lincoln Financial Center, officially starting its first full season of golf, writes Ariel Simpson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
PGA Tour winner Chris Gotterup and former Eagles center Jason Kelce hit the inaugural tee shots for the official grand opening on Monday for the 42,000 square-foot, three-story complex, which has been open to the public since December.
“Seeing this building today and being able to invite guests to Cobbs Creek is a massive milestone in our project,” said Erin Cook, the senior vice president of the Cobbs Creek Foundation. “Seeing these projects come to life has been a dream come true. It’s really fulfilling our mission.”
The Cobbs Creek Golf Course closed in 2020 due to flooding and deterioration, and has since been revitalized by a massive $150 million restoration campaign.
The main part of the restoration, the historic Olde Course, is still being renovated.
The completed section boasts a two-story driving range, a pro shop, a golf entertainment center, a 200-person event and community space, a TGR-designed short course named The Q-School, and The Little Horse Tavern restaurant.
