Last week, Swarthmore Borough Council voted unanimously to remove borough manager Sean Halborn after just six months in the role, writes Denali Sagner and Lisa Dukart for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Officials did not disclose the reason for the termination.
Halbom began serving as borough manager in September, following a series of positions in Montgomery County, including most recently to be township manager for Upper Frederick Township.
Earlier in his career, he served as interim human resources director in Bucks County and township manager for Worcester Township. From 2012 to 2018, he was Montgomery County’s director of veterans affairs.
In the role of Swarthmore Borough manager, he replaced William Webb, who left to serve as assistant county administrator in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.
The Swarthmore council named David Unkovic as interim borough manager, who “came highly recommended” by Upper Providence Township, where he was interim township manager, said Council President Jill Bennett Gaieski.
The search for a permanent borough manager is already underway, with officials hoping to have someone in place as early as June 1.
The search will take “until we find the right person,” said Gaieski. “We have a really good interim in place.”
