Broomall native Taylor Anderson-Heide and Team USA’s women’s curling team have a shot at an Olympic Bronze medal, depending on how things go in their competition against Canada Sunday morning.
The 30-year-old has been an integral part of the team’s success at the Milano 2026 Winter Olympics, writes Michael Tannenbaum for PhillyVoice.
The U.S. women’s curling team defeated Switzerland Thursday morning to advance to the medal round, but were unable to overcome Switzerland’s 5-4 win at Friday’s semifinal rematch, ending US hopes for a gold medal.
Anderson-Heide is a graduate of Marple Newtown High School and a member of the Philadelphia Curling Club in Paoli.
Her curling career has placed her on three gold-winning teams at the U.S. Women’s Curling Championship. Two of those medals were earned alongside her twin sister, Sarah, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 2019 and Wausau, Wisconsin, in 2021.
The Milano games mark Taylor’s first appearance at the Olympics, serving as Team USA’s lead. Her role is to set up the team’s strategy to position stones in the circular target at the end of the ice, known as the house.
In addition, she serves as a sweeper when her other teammates throw their stones.
