Hangout Cafe in Springfield Mall Has Grand Reopening Sunday

The Hangout Cafe is celebrating a grand reopening at the Springfield Mall.

The Hangout Cafe at the Springfield Mall will have a grand reopening from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, March 1, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

The mall restaurant at 1250 Baltimore Pike in Springfield temporarily closed, shifting its focus from being a traditional restaurant to The Hangout Cafe: An Event and Experience Cafe.

Owners Latisha and Alonzo Gray are responding to customer demand by offering a community hub for events, workshops, birthday parties, and social gatherings, instead of operating as a dining-only venue.

The Hangout Café is hoping to bring a positive vibe to the mall, where people can create, eat, and hang out.

The café’s offerings will now include hands-on workshops, craft days, family-friendly activities, limited café food, music, birthday parties, and more.

The Hangout Café started as a snack bar two years ago in Morton at 29 S. Morton Ave. Its new location is in the former Friendly’s Restaurant in the Springfield Mall.

“We want The Hangout Café to be the place where families, friends, and neighbors come together to eat, laugh, and make memories,” Latisha explained in a January Daily Times article. “It’s not just about good food, it’s about good vibes.”
