After exiting the Philadelphia market three years ago, Firehouse Subs is plotting an aggressive comeback, with Parkesburg being considered as a potential location, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The sandwich maker is aiming to have between 50 and 80 new outposts in the region over the next five to ten years, with hopes that the first ten locations will open within the next three years, according to senior director of franchising Kelly Crummer

“Firehouse Subs is eager to continue growing across the United States, and have really focused in on Philly as one of our larger opportunities,” said Crummer.

Firehouse Subs, originally based in Jacksonville, Florida, is a fast-casual chain specializing in sandwiches with steamed meats and cheeses on toasted sub rolls. Brothers and former firefighters Chris and Rob Sorensen founded the brand in 1994.

No franchise agreements have been signed so far for the Philadelphia region. Beyond Parkesburg, the company is looking at locations along Broad Street in downtown Philadelphia, King of Prussia, and Willow Grove, as well as Gloucester City, Westmont, and Medford in New Jersey and Middletown in Delaware.
