Wawa Punches Above Its Weight to Become the Best Sandwich Shop in America

By

Wawa has been voted the best quick-service sandwich shop in America in an annual survey by Market Force Information, a customer experience research firm, writes Jordan McBride for Main Line Today.

Wawa is the first-ever convenience store to earn the honor.

Wawa beat out larger chains like Jersey Mike’s, Jimmy John’s, and Panera Bread by receiving a score of 64 percent in the composite loyalty index. Firehouse Subs came closest to Wawa with 62 percent, while Jersey Mike’s received 59 percent.

The achievement is even more notable as Wawa is significantly smaller than its competitors. The still-growing, Delco-based chain only has 750 stores, while Jimmy John’s and Panera Bread have more than 2,000 each.

MFI compiled the data online by polling more than 11,000 consumers. They rated the stores on merits like food quality, cleanliness, and value for money.

Wawa ranked highest in the value category, edging out Subway. It also received the highest in mobile app awareness with 67 percent, up from 48 percent last year.
