“Delco Donny”, a.k.a. Jake Dillion, has developed quite a following on TikTok, giving pop-up concerts in Wawa parking lots with a thick Delco accent, writes Kristin Hunt for PhillyVoice.
Some of his videos have more than 100,000 views.
Jake Dillon, a singer-songwriter and music teacher from Northeast Philly, created his musical alter ego a few months ago when he discovered his girlfriend’s mother came from Delaware County.
With Delco accent in tow, he picked up his guitar and recorded a cover of “You Found Me” by the Fray, performing as a Delco dude.
Now “Delco Donny” is a social media sensation with over a million likes on TikTok.
His preferred concert venues are Wawa parking lots across five counties.
Last Sunday, he did a pop-up show at the Boothwyn Wawa on Chichester Avenue that drew about 100 people.
“These fans look at me like I’m Noah Kahan,” Dillon, 29, said with a laugh. “That is the way they were behaving. … At one point I was like, ‘Can someone run in and grab me a tea for my throat?’ and there were just people running to go get it.”
