ShopRite Supermarkets Picks Up West Chester Location from Family-Owned Operator

ShopRite Supermarkets set to control the West Chester ShopRite as it completes the purchase of three stores from long-standing operators.

ShopRite Supermarkets is set to assume control of the West Chester ShopRite as it completes the purchase of three regional stores from long-standing family operators, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Along with the 1115 West Chester Pike store in West Chester, the Wakefern Food Corp. subsidiary plans to assume control of two Philadelphia locations, with the three deals expected to be completed in January. The financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

The West Chester store in the West Goshen Town Center is owned by the Miller family through its company, KTM Supermarkets, which has been running ShopRite locations for about thirty years.

When the deal is finalized, the Millers plan to step away from the grocery business entirely. The family and KTM Supermarkets have already sold a Hatfield ShopRite to the McMenamin family in an earlier transaction.

The Chester County location is expected to keep all existing staff members and maintain its usual operations without any planned adjustments.

In the Philadelphia region, ShopRite ranks as the leading grocery store with a 16.6 percent market share, calculated from sales during the period of April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
