Lisa Zahn thought it was time to reassess her life after her dad, Bill Reindl, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a little over a year ago.
The lifelong Delaware County resident and Garnet Valley High School graduate decided to pursue her dream of opening Glimmer, a boutique gift store.
She chose W. State Street in Media Borough for her storefront, writes Jen Samuel for the Daily Local, as reported in the Daily Times.
“I’ve always just wanted to really invest in Media,” she said.
She describes the borough as a best practice downtown.
“Everyone feels that this is a Hallmark town. And it truly is,” she said. “It brings that quintessential Americana.”
Media’s Mayor-elect Joi Washington gets it. She describes the borough as “thriving, connected, safe, and welcoming.”
Washington, Media’s first woman mayor, took 77 percent of the vote in November, replacing outgoing Mayor Bob McMahon, who has held that office since 1992.
She moved to Media herself from Philadelphia in 2013 and has been on the Media Council since January 2022.
Media thrives because of a community of neighbors helping neighbors and a collaboration that supports the 100 independent small businesses, she said.
