Devan Kaney, with Radnor Ties, Loves That Sports Is Our Identity

Devan Kaney has come a long way from being a "fan of the game" at age 15 to Eagles sideline reporter for WIP.

Devan Kaney remembers when she and a dozen or so Radnor High School seniors skipped school to go to the Phillies’ 2008  World Series parade, writes J.F. Pirro for Main Line Today.

Now the 2009 Radnor High School graduate is the sideline reporter for the Philadelphia Eagles radio broadcasts. She’s also an on-air host on Sportsradio 94 WIP’s morning show, a weekend sports anchor for FOX 29 Philadelphia, and a betting analyst for BetMGM Network.

“I’m covering teams I watched growing up,” she said. And loving it.

“Nothing is more satisfying than to be working in this massive market where sports are tied to our identity,” she said.

It’s especially meaningful because she’s had to move 20 times between media outlets until she was able to take a job in the Philadelphia market with the National Lacrosse League in 2018.

She’s stayed home ever since.

Kaney grew up as a nice, quiet girl, not shy, but “quietly assessing the situations around her as she matured into a young woman,” according to Eileen Wolfington Fox, who has known Kaney since the third grade at Wayne Elementary School, where Fox’s daughter Molly was a teammate and a friend.
