Erin Dolan of Media Created a Niche at ESPN as a Sports Betting Analyst

By

Cardinal O’Hara High School graduate Erin Kate Dolan started off expecting to be a  physical or occupational sports therapist.

But she discovered a love for sports broadcast journalism and now has created her own niche as ESPN’s sports betting analyst, writes Devin Jackson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Dolan, who grew up in Media, graduated in 2018 from Penn State with a broadcast journalism degree.

She started off as a sideline reporter at PHL 17, covering the Wings of the National Lacrosse League.

But Dolan wanted a career that allowed her to offer her opinions.

When sports betting was legalized, Dolan jumped on board in 2018, serving as an on-air host at Pointsbet.

That took her to FanDuel in 2021, and then ESPN, making betting picks and predictions.

“I didn’t have people to produce me; pretty much everything was just myself, my opinion, and what I wanted to say,” she said.

Correct predictions build viewer credibility, so she works hard to keep up with the numbers, sometimes changing at the last minute.

Dolan is a consistent presence on ESPN’s SportsCenter and Sunday NFL and also has a YouTube channel, the EKD Show.
