Despite the Cold, Crowds Line Up Media’s 66th Veterans Day Parade

Uniformed veterans march carrying flags in the 66th annual Veterans Day parade in Media.

A tradition honoring war veterans and first responders continued Tuesday in the heart of Media Borough at the 66th annual Veterans Day parade, writes TaRhonda Thomas for 6abc.

The parade’s grand marshal was Ed Buffman, a 100-year-old Navy veteran of World War II.

Vietnam veterans led the parade on motorcycles, receiving calls of “thank you” from the crowd.

“It does mean a lot,” said Chuck Holland with Vietnam Vets USA. “It kind of makes you think of the past a bit, but honestly, we’re grateful for all the thank-yous and just glad to be home safe. “

Corvettes carried veterans, classic cars were on display, as local groups marched, and six bands played patriotic songs.

The parade and the program that followed were organized by The U.S. Veterans Legacy Project.

“This is emotional for us because my husband just died in June, so to come out here to honor him, cherish these moments,” said Alicia Sabre of Norwood.

The parade grand marshal hopes the youth know and appreciate the sacrifice of veterans.

“That’s what we want to do; bring up history,” said Buffman. “That’s what we are. Living history.”
