Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has opened a pediatric primary care office in a new medical building in the Drexeline Town Center in Drexel Hill, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 60,000 square-foot three-story medical building is 100 percent occupied, with CHOP’s 15,000 square-foot facility taking up the first floor.

Delaware County Department of Human Services has leased the remaining 45,000 square feet, relocating from Upper Darby.

The new CHOP office at 5100 State Road replaces an office on Keystone Avenue and is 12 percent larger.

CHOP is also closing a nearby pediatric care office on Dec. 31  at 2000 Sproul Road in Broomall.

The new practice is partly in response to the loss of health care facilities with the shutdown of Crozer Health, according to Dr. Danielle Nicholson, medical director at CHOP Primary Care Drexel Hill.

The Drexel Hill site has 25 exam rooms, four consultation rooms, free parking, and access to public transportation with an on-site SEPTA light rail station.

Will Germain, CEO and managing partner of MCB Science + Health, a subsidiary of MCB Real Estate, called the Drexeline Medical Office Building a “robust health care anchor” for the town center.
